2/8 x 6 = 3/2
9/8 x 2 = 9/4
9/4 - 3/2 = 3/4 lbs

Kim purchased 6 small containers of potato salad.Small containers weigh
(2)/(8).lbs.

Weight of Kim's purchase =6x
(2)/(8) =(12)/(8).=(3)/(2). lbs

Seth purchased 2 extra large containers of Potato salad.

Weight of extra large container=
(9)/(8).lbs.

Weight of Seth's purchase =2x
(9)/(8). =(18)/(8).=(9)/(4).lbs

Difference in weights of Seth and Kim =
(9)/(4).-(3)/(2).=(3)/(4).lbs.

Difference in weight =
(3)/(4).lbs.
