it depends on how much the consumer needs. there are quantities that make the first option cheaper, but there are also quantities that make the second option more desirable

Quarts costs less. There are 4 cups in a quart. So 1.25 x 4 = 5.00 per quart. Therefore, $3.75 per quart costs less than $1.25 per cup.
