an ideal reheat-regenerative Rankine cycle as
shown. Steam at a rate of 75 kg/s enters the high
pressure turbine at 10 MPa and 560°C and leaves
at 0.7 MPa. A fraction of the steam is extracted at
this pressure to heat the feedwater in a closed
feedwater heater. The rest of the steam is reheated
to 500°C and then it is expanded in the low-
pressure turbine to the condenser pressure of 10
kPa. It is assumed that the feedwater leaves the
closed feedwater heater (State 8) at the
condensation temperature of the extracted steam.
