The Fayum desert yielded fossils of three primates, these includes; Oligopithecus, Apidium ad Aegyptopithecus.
Oligopithecus was a fossil that lived in Africa during Early Oligocene. it has traits of both monkeys and apes, but never seemed to belong to any of these relatives. Aegyptopithecus was a small, tree-dwelling, fruit eating animal living about 33 million years ago.
