The ages of the eight-member school board are listed below. 28, 40, 34, 46, 60, 34, 51, 57 if a is equal to the median age of the group and b is equal to the mode of the group/s age, what is the value of a-b? (1 point)

From the set of data given:
28,40,34,46,60,34,51,57
re-arranging the above in ascending order we get:
28, 34,34, 40, 46,51,57,60
The mode of the numbers is 34
the median is:
(40+46)/2=43
hence the median, a=43
the mode, b=34
therefore:
a-b=43-34=9
Answer: 9
