There are 120 students because

100/7.5 = 13.333333

and 9 x 13.333333 = 120

Step 1: Assign variable for the unknown that we need to find.

Let x be the number of students in 7th grade.

Step 2: Using the given statement we need to set up an equation.

7.5% of number of students in 7th grade are absent. 9 students are absent.

7.5\% \; of \; x = 9\\\\(7.5)/(100) \ttimes x=9\\\\0.075x=9\\Divide \; by \; 0.075\; on\; both \; sides\\\\ (0.075x)/(0.075)= (9)/(0.075) \\Simplify \; the \; fraction \; both \; sides\\\\ x=120

Conclusion:

There are 120 students in 7th Grade
