Wegener attempted to explain the movement of continents but could not identify a source of force strong enough. What did scientists eventually identify as the primary energy source that drives the movement of Earth's plates? Convection Friction Gravity Volcanoes

Convection is correct. Friction: plates don't rub against each other
Gravity- keeps things from floating
Volcanoes aren't found everywhere and aren't powerful enough to cause enough movement for plate tectonics.
