In fact, the relationship between the voltage, the resistance and the current in a circuit is given by Ohm's law:


V=IR

where

V is the voltage

I is the current

R is the resistance


From the equation, we see that the voltage is directly proportional to the resistance; therefore, if the current I is kept the same and the resistance R is increased, the voltage V will increase too.
