lets attack this two different ways both with different types of factoring
well let's see if you take this equation and factor you get the equation
x(2x+5)=42
if you set both of the factors equal to 42 you would get
x = 42 and x = 18.5 which isn't the same as any solutions
(Best method)
however let's move 42 to the other side and set it equal to an zero
2x² +5x -42 = 0
if you were to factor this you would get
(2x-7)(x+6)=0
which would make
The solutions
x = -6
x= 3.5
so her solutions doing the second method (best method) were close but still not correct

No, 3.5 is right but 6 is wrong!
