Mrs. Boyle: 2g pounds of beef
Mrs. Anand: 1.5 pounds less that that bought by Mrs. Boyle = 2g-1.5
However, the amount of beef bought by Mrs. Anand is equivalent to "d"
Therefore,
d=2g-1.5
