The United States Army Air Forces played a significant role during the second world war. The USAAF roles are strategic bombing of large cities and try to achieve air supremacy against the axis forces. Also they provide close air support to the ground forces in an attack to enemies strong points. The risk of it was high because the Axis forces especially the Luftwaffe have experienced pilots and powerful planes that is a serious threat if left unchecked. Also the flak weapons or anti-air weapons add to the risk of the pilots during the war. New weapons such as superfortress bombers and precision-guided munitions are used.
