Answer: Use a chart or ask a pilot(like me). The z stands for Zulu which is the standard aviation time and the 4 letter code stands for the airport it was issued at. (Fun fact. Metars are very convenient in untowered airports because they broadcast the baro pressure that the tower would usually give you in a towered airport.)
