A hairdresser wants to know if her clients are happy with her. She decides to survey a sample of her clients. What method would be best for choosing a random sample that is a fair representation of her patients

a. Give a survey to the next one hundred clients who come to the office.
b. Call the first one hundred clients in alphabetical order.
c. Ask the receptionist to refer one hundred clients to call.
d. Assign numbers to each client and then use a random number generator to choose one hundred clients to survey

D because it would give a non-biased sample group to fairly survey.

We are asked to choose the best method of a random sample for a hair dresser who wants to know her clients's satisfaction.

We will see our options one by one.

Upon looking at option (a) and (b) we can say that these are not good choices as she is now experienced and her upcoming customer will be more satisfied than her customers when she started her work.

Option c is also not correct choice as it will be influenced by her receptionist's thoughts and choices.

Option d is the best way to choose a random sample as it is a fair representation of her all customers. In this sample all of her costumers will be assigned numbers and will be chosen randomly.

Therefore, option (d) is the correct choice.
