Our equation is gonna be in terms of the width, since everything is based off of it.
2w+2(w+2)=64
The first term shows the width, while the second half of the equation show the length. Now we have to use distributive property.
2w+2w+4=64
Now simplify
4w+4=64
Now subtract four from both sides.
4w=60
Now divide both sides by 4.
W=15
So the width is 15, we know the length is 17 since it states it’s 2 cm longer.
So, the length is 17 cm while the width is 15 cm.

let x cm be the width
let x+2cm be the length
2x+2(x+2)=64
2x+2x+4=64
4x=60
x=15
so the width is 15cm
the length is 15+2 i.e.17cm
