Explanation: 8. The Dust Bowl was a disastrous event, primarily for the American citizens who lived in the Great Plains. During the period, there were severe dust storms that damaged the agriculture, ecology and indirectly affected the economy of America and Canada in 1930s all through to 1940s. It was as a result of drought and wind erosion. The state affected are Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico and much more. Many farm families had to migrate towards westward (California mainly) through Route 66. The immigrant was often collectively referred to as Okies or Arkies.

9. During The Great Depression, millions of people were out of work across the United States. Unable to find another job locally, many unemployed people migrated towards California through Route 66 hoping to find some work. During that period, the new deal from the social security administration was to help people that are unemployed.

10. During The Great Depression, Herbert Hoover did not want to intervene in the free market; he didn't intervene in the falling wheat market. While Franklin Roosevelt, his successor took direct action to combat the effects of the Great Depression. He advocated a new deal that created dozens of government programs aimed at providing relief, promoting recovery, and establishing reforms that would guard against future economic disasters.
