Explain Creon’s new plan for Antigone’s punishment and infer the cause of the change.

Creon's new plan for Antigone's punishment includes the following: burying her alive, yet still providing her enough nutrition to keep her alive. The cause of this change of plan is because Creon knows that if he publicly stones Antigone he will lose the respect and loyalty of his subjects, and family, possibly resulting in a revolt against his reign.

He knew that if he ordered Antigone to be publicly executed, people would rise up against him. His son and family were all against his former decision to have Antigone killed for her insurgence, therefore he decided to practically lock her inside a tomb somewhere far from the city and send enough food to her so that she wouldn't starve to death. However, his plan was thwarted as Antigone killed herself first.
