The correct answer is peasants attacked both Indian and British people and places that represented their oppression

Peasants basically attacked anyone who was perceived to be an institution of power. To them, there was no difference between the British people and the Indian elites since they all became wealthier and more powerful as time passed by while the peasants became poorer and had to suffer more and more.
