The Industrial Workers of the World (known as well as IWW) is a labor union founded in 1905. Unlike the previous unions, the American Federation of Labor (AFL) for instance which focused their attention only on skilled workers, the IWW focused its efforts on unskilled laborers in the United States. Reason why it aimed to include groups that had previously been ignored such as women, African-Americans, and immigrants.
The goal of the Industrial Workers of the World, since its formation in 1905 when radical unions and political groups met in Chicago during the First Convention of the Industrial Workers of the World, was to organize all of the workers of the nation into the single union in order to abolish the capitalist system.
