The chorus in Greek drama can be compared to a modern narrator. The chorus reveals important characters as well as settings and morals. They may mention something that will soon happen in the story in order to keep the audience intrigued. It is also just keep the audience from having to watch the transitions from scene to scene in silence, it holds their attention.
