Venus blames herself for her sons disappearance, because she is crying in many places, such as "up and down the coast."

The expression "Cried him up and down the coast" means that Venus has cried for a long period and for everywhere where she went to.

Despite feeling "considerable anger towards her son" she's still blaming herself for the disappearance of him which made her "get lost in tears".
