Use the formula for the surface area of a right cone:

\sf A=\pi rs+\pi r^2

Where 'r' is the radius and 's' is the slant height, plug in what we know(use 3.14 to approximate for pi):

\sf A=(3.14)(12)(15)+(3.14)(12)^2

Multiply and simplify exponent:

\sf A=565.2+(3.14)(144)

Multiply:

\sf A=565.2+452.16

Add, round to the nearest whole number:

\boxed{\sf A\approx 1017~cm^2}
