Your Question : Find X in 3x - 1 = 2x - 1
======================================================================
SOLVING.....

3x − 1 = 2x − 1

Subtract 2x from each side
3x − 1 2x = 2x − 1 2x
x − 1 = 1

Add 1 to each side
x − 1 + 1 = −1 + 1
x = 0
====================================================================
CHECKING.....

Substitute 0 for x in 3x − 1 = 2x − 1
3(0) − 1 = 2(0) − 1
0 - 1 = 0 - 1
-1 = -1
This is true so x does equal 0

Hello there!

3x - 1 = 2x - 1

Start by subtracting 2x on both sides

3x - 1 - 2x = 2x - 1 - 2x

x - 1 = - 1

Then add 1 on both sides

x - 1 + 1 = -1 + 1

x = 0

I hope this helps!

As always, it is my pleasure to help students like you.
