you assume that the sides are semicircles

the circumference of a circle is normally 2*pi*r
but since it is semicircle, half circumference and it is pi* r

perimeter: circum semi circle left + top square + circum semi circ right + bottom square

= pi(8) + 16 + pi(8) + 16 = 16pi + 32 = 82.265 units
