Entry 10.13.22

(1)Now that we have met Lady Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s most infamous female characters, what is your impression of her? Explain? (2) In what ways is she pushing her husband to commit murder? Why would she want to do this? Explain. (3) Have you ever pushed someone into doing something? (4) How is the situation in which you pushed/talked someone into doing something and Lady Macbeth doing this to Macbeth similar? How are the two situations different? Discuss and explore.

Answer:

1: Lady Macbeth is powerful, ambitious, and two faced. She will do whatever she can for power, and is heavily devoted to her husband.

2: She almost gaslights Macbeth into feeling as if he should commit the murder. Bringing up her own devotion to him, and filling his head with the greatness they could obtain by killing Duncan.
