Number of lions in entire area of California = 4543 mountain loins.

Total Area of California = 423,970 km square

So number of lions in 423,970 km square of area = 4543

Let us find out number of lions per km square using unitary method.

Number of lions per square km = 4543/423,970

Now we find population density of lions per 250 km square in California.

Number of lions per 250 square km = (4543/423970) *250 = 2.6788.

Answer: The population density is 2.68 lions per km square in California.
