A boat cruise is 32 miles long. There are 40 sight-seeing stops evenly spread throughout the cruise. The boat covered 1/3 of the cruise when it had to pause for a bad storm.

How far apart are the stops?
How far did the boat travel before it was forced to stop?
Thank you in advance :)

well, 32 miles split over 40 sight-seeing stops, is pretty much the same as "how many times does 40 go into 32"? well 32/40, and we can simplify that to 4/5, so 4/5 of a mile, which is 4225 feet, so that much is each stop apart from others.

the boat went only 1/3 of the way, well, the whole trip is 32 miles, and 1/3 of that is just their product, 32 * (1/3), which is 10 miles and an extra 2/3 of a mile, or 56320 feet.
