A rectangular floor measures 10 1/8 feet by 13 3/4 feet. If Emily buys 150 square feet of carpet, will she have enough carpet to cover the floor? ( show your work pls )

First, let’s find the area of the rectangular floor. For me, it’s easier to use decimals compared to fractions. To solve this, we just need to multiply 10.125•13.75

The floor has a total area of 139.21875 feet squared.
Emily has 150 square feet.
150>139.21875, so yes Emily has enough carpet to cover the carpet floor.

Yes she will have enough. Here is why.

10 1/8 x 13 3/4 = 139

Therefore the room is 139 square feet. She has 150 square feet of carpet, so she has enough.
