Copernicus was the first person with the theory that the sun was the center of the universe. He said that earth as well as the other planet revolved around the sun. In 1543 Copernicus published a book that said Ptolemy's theory was wrong. Which at the time if Ptolemy's theory was wrong it would mean all scientific knowledge was wrong considering they got most information from ancient theories like Ptolemy's. Years later in 1609 Galileo used a telescope to prove Copernicus's theory.
