first you want to get a common denominator for each fraction and you get the equation (20/60)b+(192/60)+(70/60)=227/60, then subtract (192/60) and (70/60) from both sides to get (20/60)b=(-35/60), then multiply both sides by 60 and divide by 20 to get that b=(-35/20) or simplified -7/4
