We are also given that:

Plugging the value of x from equation (1) in (2)

`(2+y)*y=41.25`

`2y+y^(2)=41.25`

On solving we will get,

y=5.5 and y=-7.5

So if y=5.5,

x= 2+y = 7.5

Answer : The first number is 7.5 and the second number is 5.5
