5(x+3)=20

x+3=4 (divide both sides of the equation by 5

x=4-3 (move constant to the right side and change)

x=4-3 =x=1 (subtract the numbers)

First you must distribute the 5 throughout the parentheses to receive the following equation: 5x+15=20. Then you must subtract the 15 from both sides of the equation to find: 5x=5. And finally you must divide each side by 5 to isolate your x term to receive a final answer of x=1. Hope this helps! :)
