Hello there!

To solve 5a + 19 < -27,
you would have to subtract 19 on both sides to isolate 5a.

5a + 19 < -27
- 19 -19
-------------------
5a < -46

We need a, not 5a. So divide both sides by 5.

5a < -46
a < -46/5
-46/5 can be simplified as -9.2

So your answer is a < -9.2
