Subtract 4z from each side
3z + 1 4z = 4z + 19 4z
−z + 1 = 19

Subtract 1 from each side
−z + 1 1 = 19 1
−z = 18

Divide each side by -1
-z ÷ -1 = 18 ÷ -1
z = -18
