carbon
.
Carbon is a nonmetal and it has 4 electrons in his outer shell which allows him to form covalent chemical bonds with 4 other atoms. Carbon is abundant in all organic compounds and it is part of complex macromolecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins.
