x= -5

-3x + 7y= 5x + 2y
plug x into equation to find y
-3(-5) + 7y= 5(-5) + 2y
15 + 7y= -25 + 2y
subtract 2y from both sides
15 + 5y= -25
subtract 15 from both sides
5y= -40
divide both sides by 5
y= -8

CHECK:
-3x + 7y= 5x + 2y
-3(-5) + 7(-8)= 5(-5) + 2(-8)
15 - 56= -25 - 16
-41= -41

ANSWER: y= -8

Hope this helps! :)

Hey there! :D

So, you know the x value. Plug that value in.

-3(-5)+7y= 5(-5)+2y

15+7y= -25+2y

Subtract 15 on both sides.

7y= -35+2y

Subtract 2y on both sides.

5y=-35

Divide both sides by 5.

y=-7.

(-5,-7) <=== the solution.

I hope this helps!
