----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information Given
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Entree = $4.75
Addition items = $1.25 each
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Define x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let the number of addition item be x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Construct equation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.75 = 4.75 + 1.25x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Find x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.75 = 4.75 + 1.25x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtract 4.75 from both sides
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 = 1.25x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Divide by 1.25 on both sides
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 = x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: The customer ordered 4 additional items

Hello!
ANSWER:
4 additional items were ordered.
EXPLANATION:
First, subtract the cost of the entree:
9.75 - 4.75 = 5
This means that the customer spent $5.00 on on additional items.
Each additional item costs $1.25. Divide:
5 ÷ 1.25 = 4
