Find the value of y
------------------------------------------------------------------------
y - 18 = 14
+ 18 + 18

y = 32
------------------------------------------------------------------------
substitute y = 32 into 2 (y + 9)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

2( y + 9 ) = 2 ( 32 + 9 )
2 (y + 9 ) = 2 (41)
2 ( y + 9 ) = 82

Answer: 82

82 is the answer. to find y, you would add 18 to both sides of the equation (y-18=14 --> y=18+14, so y=32. now, you plug in 32 to the other equation. 32+9=41, and 41*2 = 82.
