The population of a city has increased by

35
%

since it was last measured. If the current population is
70,200

, what was the previous population?

I would set this up as a proportion 70200/x = 135/100 then solve for x then that's your answer!

You would multiply .35 (35%) by 70,200 and get 24,570. Since you’re looking for the previous population you subtract 24,570 from 70,200
