I need help I have to find the area of the composite figure-example-1

Try cutting them into two separate squaesand finding the areas separately then adding the areas. the first square would be 20 x 21 which would be 420 and the second area could be found using 18 x 18 whiichwould be 324. If you add 420+324, you get the area of the whole shapewhich would be 744. I hope this helps :P

We divide the figure into two pieces, as shown in the attached diagram.

We get a rectangle with dimensions
20 \ cm * 21 \ cm plus a square with dimensions
18 \ cm * 18 \ cm. The area of the rectangle is
420 \ cm^2 and the square is
324 \ cm^2, which together add up to
744 \ cm^2.
