Why did the plant cell plasmolyze when immersed in a hypertonic solution?

Plasmolysis can be defined as the process where cells lose water concentration in a hypertonic solution and this process leads to contraction or shrinkage of the pant cell protoplasm. However, water leaves the cell due to hyperosmotic solution because it contains solutes such as sorbitol, sucrose and mannitol.
