mountain chains provide evidence to support the theory of continental drift because mountain chains move around and change shape over time.

Mountain chains provide evidence to support the theory of continental drift in moving both vertically and horizontally, thus growing in height and changing their positions. Example for vertical movement: Mount Everest grows in height 8 cm per year. Example for horizontal movement: Galichica (R. Macedonia) moved 2.5 cm towards southeast in the autumn of 2017 after a series of earthquakes.
