1. You have that:

- Each gallon of paint covers 400 ft².
- One side of a wall must be painted and its dimensions are :is 8 meters tall and 40 meters long.

1 ft=0.3048 m
1 ft²=(0.3048 m)²=0.09290 m²

2. Each gallon of paint covers 400 ft², then:

400 ft²x0.09290=37.16 m²

3. The area of one side of the wall is:

A=8 mx40 m
A=320 m²

4. Therefore, you have:

1 gallon-----37.16 m²
x-----320 m²

x=320x1/37.16
x=8.61 gallons
x≈9 gallons

The answer is: 9 gallons
