two forces act on a hook. the magnitude are F1=300N toward the positive x-axis and F2=125N at a 48 degree angle to the x-axis. find the direction and the magnitude of the resultant force ?

Horizontal components:
F1x = 300
F2x = 125 * cos (48) = 83.64132579
horizontal net force:
Fx = 83.64132579 + 300
Fx = 383.6413258 N
Vertical components:
F2y = 125 * sine (48) = 92.89310318
vertical net force:
Fy = 92.89310318
Magnitude of the resulting force:
F = root ((Fx) ^ 2 + (Fy) ^ 2)
F = root ((383.6413258) ^ 2 + (92.89310318) ^ 2)
F = 125
Angle:
theta = Atan (Fy / Fx)
theta = Atan (92.89310318 / 383.6413258)
theta = 13.61 degrees
Answer:
The direction and the magnitude of the resultant force are:
F = 125 N
theta = 13.61 degrees
