C. The lovers are in love with the right person because of magic, but they still need Theseus to approve of their plans to marry.

Even though the four characters have sorted themselves out (with some help from Puck and Oberon), their trouble might not be solved. Theseus could still command Hermia to marry Demetrius or become a nun because of the way society is structured. Theseus, however, chooses to overrule Hermia's father and let the couples marry who they want to.
