Why were some Americans against Vietnamization?

Because some Americans felt that the Vietnam War in general was wasting a lot of money and bringing about hundreds of casualties that should have never occurred in the first place. Long story short, they felt it was a waste and there was no point of it. It was just causing more pain among many people.
