Subtracting 1 (and using appropriate math symbols), the standard form of the equation is
2x^2 +7x -1 = 0

You have
a = 2
b = 7
c = -1
so the discriminant b^2 -4ac is
7^2 -4(2)(-1) = 49 +8 = 57
