Jerome is cooking dinner. He needs 7 ounces of broccoli for each person . Jerome is not sure how many people will come for dinner. Write an expression with a variable that represents the amount of broccoli Jerome needs for dinner

If x is the number of people that come over to dinner, and y is how much ounces of broccoli he needs, then this is your equation:
7x = y is your answer

Because he needs 7 ounces for each person, to find the number of ounces he needs, you multiply 7 by the number of people.
