We know that when a coin is tossed there are two possible outcomes:

Head and a Tail

Now for each flip of a coin there are two possible outcomes.

This means that when a coin is tossed " n " times, the total number of outcomes that are possible are:


2^n

Since, for each place there are two choices this means that for n places there are:
2* 2* 2* .......{n\ times}=2^n possible outcomes

Here we have: n=5

Hence, the total size of the sample space of this experiment is:


2^5=32
