Why didn't the colonists want to pay taxes?

The Americans who didn't like Britain's taxes started using the slogan: "no taxation without repensentation."
So in 1765, delegates from nine out of thirteen colonies met in New York at the Stamp Act Congress and on Oct 19, 1765 signed a resolution that stated that it was their right to have no taxes imposed on them... ect.
Hope this answers your question. =)
