What does a “credit” mean in college?

I have an assignment in which I have to look the best university that matches the career I want. While I was doing so, I encountered that the tuition of one college is “$995 per credit” and I don’t get what it means. I did look it up and I found something that a credit in college is an hour of class. So I’m still really confused of what a credit in college means. Can someone please explain?

The person above is incorrect. In a semester or quarter (whichever system the university uses) you can take up to a certain number of credits and each class is worth a number of credits. For example, at my university we are advised to take no more than 18 credits per quarter and classes usually range from 1-6 credits.

In your situation, classes would probably be similar credit-wise and you would pay $955 for each credit. If a class is 3 credits, it would be $2865.

Hello there!

A credit is basically one school year (the amount of time it takes for you to acquire a credit for that class).

Hope I helped!

Let me know if you need anything else!
